Remittance inflow in to the country rose 11 per cent to $1.12 billion in July,  the first month of the current fiscal year 2017-18, against the same month in the last fiscal year, said officials of Bangladesh Bank, the central bank on Sunday.
The inflow of remittance inflow is likely to rise further as expatriate Bangladesh workers generally send more money home to help their families to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, which is due in the beginning of the next month, subject to the sighting of the moon.
Meanwhile foreign workers including Bangladesh expatriates in Qatar have started sending more money home following standoff between Qatar and four other Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia.
In the last fiscal year Bangladesh workers employed abroad sent $13 billion, up 10 per cent from the previous fiscal year.
