DB Assistant Commissioner shot in Dhaka

Dhaka: An assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch and another person suffered bullet wounds during a 'gunfight' with miscreants in Jurain on Saturday evening.

The injured were identified as Rahul Patwary, senior assistant commissioner of DB (West Division), and another Billal Hossain Mridul, a 5th semester student of BBA at Stamford University, also a source of police.

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Shyampur Police Station, confirmed the matter. 

They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, DMCH police camp Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia said.
Patwary was hit by a bullet to the left side of his chest and Mridul received bullet injuries in his leg, he added.

Miscreants opened fire on a DB team that went to Jurain in the evening to recover illegal firearms, DMP spokesperson Masudur Rahman said.
