Director general of health services Prof Abul Kalam Azad has claimed that the nine children of Tripurapara in Sitakunda of Chittagong died of measles.

In a press conference on Monday afternoon, the health DG also said that residents of Tripurapara do not get government health services while children in the area have never been vaccinated.

"After examining the blood samples from the dead children, the health directorate became sure that the victims were affected by measles germ. They were also malnourished," he claimed.

In his written statement, Azad informed there are some 388 residents of 85 families in Tripurapara who had never received any vaccine for measles.

He also praised the World Health Organisation, health directorate and its institutions for their responsibilities in this regard
