Rampal plant to improve pople's living standard : Tawfiq-E-Elahi
Prime minister’s energy adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury has said that the living standard of the people of country's South Western region would improve further with the implementation of Rampal Power Plant.
"Let's talk positive about the Rampal Plant. Different development schemes including building educational institutions have been undertaken centering the project. Many will get jobs and their children will be educated," he said.
The PM's adviser was addressing a seminar titled 'To Rampal from Padma'. Bangladesh Study Trust organised the seminar at the National Press Club.
Although UNESCO first opposed the construction fo the plant, we were able to convince them with our political logic that the plant would not pose threat to the Sundarbans, he said.
But, UNESCO has given some conditions for implementing the project, Chowdhury said adding that it would not show objection anymore if conditions to be fulfilled.
Organisation chairman Dr AK Abdul Momen presided over the programme, moderated by Dr Nuzhat Chowdhury. Jagannath University VC Dr Mizanur Rahman, Bangladesh Power Cell DG Engineer Mohammad Hossain and Ekattor TV Editor Mozammel Babu also spoke.
