Rangamati: Direct road link between Rangamati and Khagrachhari restored on Sunday, 33 days after the deadly hillslides that killed at least 110 people in the district.

The Rangamati-Manikchhari-Khagrachhari road was opened to light vehicles on Sunday afternoon in presence of Dipankar Talukder, former state minister for CHT Affairs.

It will take time for plying heavy and goods-laden vehicles on the road, said Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Emdad Hossain.

An amount of estimated expenditure has been sent to the high authority to complete the renovation works of the road, he said.

Road communication of the three hill districts was snapped on June 13 due to landslide triggered by heavy downpour that killed 110 in Rangamati.
