A large number of lawyers appeared for Imran in the court. They argued that the comment was not any intension to defame any political personality. But it was sheer a slogan to heat the field. There was no bad intention to undermine any political personality.
In the long hearing Advocate Prakash Chanra Biswas, Advocate Jibananada Chandra Jointa and Advocate Tanjib Al Islam among the lawyers appeared for the Imran in the court.
Imran along with his newly married wife entered the court at 9.30 am with tight security.
Advocate Noman Hossain Talukder appeared before the court for the complainant.
Earlier on May 31, the same court summoned Imran and Sanatan Ullah to appear before it after Bangladesh Chhatra League education and study circle secretary Golam Rabbani filed the case on that day.
According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister on May 27 over the removal of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises in the capital.
In response, Imran put up a Facebook post later claiming that he made no bad comments against the Prime Minister.
He commented, "They are trying to describe criticism as derogatory remarks".
