Bangladesh Sangeet Prishad organised the Eid Reunion on July 15 at the RAR Auditorium in Banani in the capital. Attendants at the event discussed on the Improvement of Music while a musical soiree was also held. Ferdous Hossain Bhuiyan, general secretary of Bangladesh Sangeet Parishad delivered the welcome speech at the event. Others present at the event included Senior vice president of the organisation Sheikh Sadi Khan, lyricist Shafat Khayyam, lyricist Abam Salahuddin, poet and lawmaker Kazi Rozi, Kamal Ahmed, Indra Mohan Rajbongshi, singer Subir Nandi, Rebeka Sultana, Hasina Momtaz, Timir Nandi, Akramul Islam, Moomoon Ahmed, Samit Ahmed Chowdhury, Iffat Ara Nargis, Sujit Mostafa, Yasmin Moshtari, Nakib Khan, Jahidul Haque, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Rupa Farhad, Kaderi Kibria, Shahin Samad, Ferdous Ara, Kanak Chapa, Chanda Chakraborty and many more.
Ferdous Hossain Bhuiyan in his speech said that music has propelled political and cultural movements. The music fraternity has to collaborate to form a decent line of culture based on the spirit of Liberation War.
Rehana Ashikur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Sangeet Parishad said that the music fraternity should work hand in hand not only for the improvement of music but also for the improvement of personal lives of each of its members. Salaries, bonuses, grade-based division according to expertise, post-retirement pensions should be ensured for all musicians. Music should be propagated more regularly through the mass media. A draft proposal containing all these would be presented before the government by the association, Rahman added.
