Four convicted for keeping drugs in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ, July 16: A court here on Sunday sentenced four persons to five-year rigorous imprisonment and fined each Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six more months in jail, for keeping contraband phensedyl.
Special Tribunal Judge and Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman announced the verdict.
The convicted are: Delwar Hossen, Shahin Ahmed, Kalu Mia and Taleb Mia. Of them, Kalu Mia and Taleb Mia are absconding.
As per the court, police on a tip-off raided a microbus near Belabo Filing Station under Bhairab upazila of the district on May 26, 2012 and after searching the vehicles, arrested the four with 276 bottles of phensedyl. Later, police filed a case against the arrested.
After examining, the judge found the four guilty and announced the verdict.
