Four people surrendered during a raid at a suspected militant hideout at Chorabali area in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Sunday.

RAB director (law and media wing) Mufti Mahmud Khan said, one of them first came out of  the one-storey tin-shed house at noon following a call from the elite force.

Later, three others came out of the house one by one.

Earlier in the morning, militants fired gunshots from inside as the RAB members asked them to surrender. The RAB men also fired back for self defence.

Mufti Mahmud said the militants also hurled explosives targeting them.

Residents were shifted to a safer place for security reason, he added.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) cordoned off the house in the area since 1am suspecting it as militant hideout.

Meanwhile, house owner Ibrahim was taken to the RAB custody for interrogation.
