Sylhet land dispute leaves 1 dead

Sylhet :A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two groups of people over a land dispute at Jaua Bazar in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Thursday.

Barkatullah Khan, superintendent of Sunamganj Police, said Abdul Wahid of Kayosthapara and Abdul Kahar of Hadidpur village had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a land.

As a sequel to the problem, supporters of both the groups, equipped with local weapons, attacked each other on Thursday morning, leaving 21 people injured.

Eight of the injured were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Abu Syed dead.

On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
