One killed in clash

MEHERPUR, May 18: One man was killed and another injured in a clash over a trifling matter at Amtal village under Gangni upazila here on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Minarul, 30, son of injured Kalam Hossain, of the village.
Locals and police said, a brawl took place over a trifling matter between the female family members of Kalam and his brother-in-law Abdul Quddus. At one stage, two sons of Quddus hit on the head of Minarul with bamboo stick, leaving him severely injured.
Neighbours rushed him to Alamdanga Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead. Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station said, police recovered the body and sent it to morgue for an autopsy.  Police are trying to nab the killers, the OC added.
