Crane crashes at Rooppur N-plant

A heavyweight crane crashed at the site of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna as nor'weaster hits the area on Wednesday night, said officials of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC).
Atomstroyexport, a subsidiary of the Russian state nuclear authority, ROSATOM, is carrying out the civil construction works for preparing the site for installation of the nuclear reactor and the power plant there. However, Atomstroyexport did not allow any BAEC official there to oversee the situation.
Meanwhile, some seniorofficials are now on way to Rooppur to visit the site, a senior official told the Daily Observer preferring anonymity. When contacted no one is willing to talk with the journalists in this regard.
