Bapex begins gas extraction from Sundalpur

Noakhali : Gas extraction  from Sundalpur gas field in Companyganj upazila began successfully on Thursday.

Engineer Md Nowshad Islam, Managing Director of the state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (Bapex), launched the extraction this noon.

“Although the amount of reserve or recoverable gas in the well is not clear right now, but it is sure  that a thriving commercial gas field was found," said the Bapex MD.  

The government began the project acquiring five acres of land at Shahjadpur village under Sirajpur union in October, 2004, said project director Md Alamgir Hossain.
