Bangladesh will carry the shared trophy
Mumbai, Mar 20: Mushfiqur Rahim, the Test captain of the Bangladesh team when flies back home will carrying the trophy, which he shared with the Sri Lanka captain on Sunday. This was revealed by Mohan De Silva, the honorary secretary of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board.
The two-Test series was levelled as Rangana Herath's team won the first Test at Galle and the second Test was lost on his birthday at P. Sara Oval.
Generally, the host country retains the trophy in the event of the series is not decided.
"It was Bangladesh's 100th Test and we have showed the gesture of allowing them to take away the trophy in Bangladesh", the secretary speaking exclusively, said.
The silver trophy which has a wooden base and will now be placed in the BCB office.
Mohan De Silva conveyed the news to the former ODI captain of the Bangladesh team Akram Khan. Hearing the news, Shakib Al Hasan became very happy and thanked De Silva.
Akram Khan is also heading the cricket operations department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Tamim Iqbal, who won the Man of the Match award for his superb 82 runs with seven fours and one six will be celebrating his birthday on Monday.
