A total of 233 students of different universities will get the Prime Minister Gold Medal for the year of 2013 and 2014 in recognition of their brilliant success in respective universities. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the Gold Medals as chief guest among the students, who secured the highest marks or CGPA in their respective faculties at different universities of the country. The medal distribution ceremony will be held on March 22 under the auspices of the University Grants Commission (UGC) at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister's Office in the city at 10 am, said a UGC press release here yesterday. Of them, 110 of 2013 and 123 of 2014 will get the gold medals. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will attend the function as the special guest with UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan in the chair. UGC introduced the Prime Minister Gold Medal in 2005 with an aim of encouraging talented university students of the country. For the first time a total of 57 students were conferred Prime Minister Gold Medal in 2005, the release added. —BSS
