Tofail opens Runner motorbike export to Nepal

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Bangladesh started a glorious journey in its industrialisation by stepping into the global market through exporting motorcycles to Nepal.
Being satisfied with the development Tofail said to further encourage local two-wheeler manufacturers, the government would announce cash incentives for this sector in the coming budget.
Through launching export of bikes manufactured by Runner Automobiles Limited, the country has taken a step forward to diversify its export basket.
It is expected that the government would do everything to boost the local industry to expand the basket of export items. To popularise and to give a sort of protection to the local motor-bike makers the government should increase duty on import of motorbikes, to accelerate the growth of the local automobiles industry, said the Commerce Minister.
Tofail Ahmed said this while launching export of Runner brand motorcycles to Nepal at a ceremony at the company's factory premises at Bhaluka in Mymensingh on Saturday.
Chairman of Runner Automobiles Limited Hafizur Rahman Khan, Vice Chairman Md Mozammel Hossain, Managing Director and CEO Mukesh Sharma, company directors, Assistant Personal Secretary Saifuzzaman Shekhor, Chairman of Nepal's Matrix Moto Corp Pvt Ltd Dilip Kumar Karma, local lawmaker Prof M Amanullah, Charge de Affairs of Nepal embassy Dhan Bahadur Oli and senior officials of the local administration were present.
