We all have seen and heard of heroes saving the city/country/oppressed in stories, movies and cartoons. However, there exist some female protagonists in anime who are breaking the boundaries and setting examples.
Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan
She is in her own world most of the time and does not speak much. She has struggled a lot, her parents were killed by criminals and she has also lived under terror of Titans. Therefore, her quiet character is kind of understandable. Yet, she manages to keep in touch with her human side.
Kaori Miyazono from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
This grey-blue eyed beauty loves to play violin. Though she may be unpredictable at times, she is friendly and energetic. She is highlighted for her passion for violin. This positive character often tries to lighten up everyone near her and no matter what, she will put up a big bright smile and will make sure her friends do not worry about her even though she may be going through hell.
Gasai Yuno Dao from Future Diary
"Everything in this world is just a game and we are merely the pawns."
Gasai Yuno is ruthless with pink long hair. She can turn from sweet to psycho in any moment. She will not hesitate to be violent and vicious for her and Yukiteru's survival. Her mental condition and her ruthless personality is basically a result of her mother's cruelness towards her. This crazy character is not shy and timid and may not always be a role model for the young girls out there but she shows that a girl needs to express her rage and fearless attitude too.
Motoki Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell
Brilliant, strong and intelligent --- these are the perfect adjectives to define Motoki Kusanagi. Not only she is physically strong but also she can hack computers. She works for Japanese National Public Safety Commission and happens to be very professional. Even though she has to live inside an artificial body after an unfortunate airplane accident, her emotions are very much real.
Whenever I go through these characters in anime I love to repeat every time. They are strong, bold, courageous and inspirational for everyday life. So, go get them and store them in your life to get inspired by their uniqueness.
