For refusing to play the two relegation play-offs, Soccer Club, Feni and Uttar Baridhara, the two bottom-liners of the JB Bangladesh Premier League were relegated from the BPL to Bangladesh Championship League, the second tier of professional league, as decided in a disciplinary committee meeting of the federation on Tuesday.
The two teams were instructed to play the two relegation play-offs on January 4 and 7 and they didn't appear on the days. It was for the first time in the history of local football that a club didn't even come at the venue refusing to play.
Disciplinary committee decided that no points will be given to the teams for the two matches or no points will be curtailed of the teams either. But they will have to pay a total of Taka 5,00,000 each as fine for breaching section-52 of the BFF disciplinary code. The payment will have to be paid within a month.
Now, the teams will play Bangladesh Championship League in next season 2016-17.
Beside, Fakirerpool Young Men's Club were fined Taka 1,00,000 for violating code during their match against Saif Sporting Club Ltd in Bangladesh Championship League 2015-16.
Satkhira DFA, who didn't appear on the field during their match against Mymensingh rivals in the semi-final of the JFA National Under-14 Girls' Football Champions-2016 on December 12, were also fined a total of Taka 1,40,000.
Thus, the disciplinary committee of the Federation fined a total of Taka 12,40,000 on the day.
