Injured Pirojpur driver dies at Khulna hospital

Bus driver Jayanta Banerjee, 55, who was injured in a road accident in Kawkhali upazila on Tuesday, died at Khulna Government General Hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased is resident of Signboard area under Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district, confirmed Secretary of district Bus Workers’ Association Alamgir Hossen.

With 52 students and teachers, the bus was going to ‘Satgambuj Mosque’ in Bagerhat on an excursion on Tuesday morning, but its driver lost its control on the Swarupkathi-Kawkhali-Noikathi road at Gosantar village in Kawkhali upazila and hit a roadside tree, leaving 35 passengers including the driver injured.

Of them, 16 seriously injured were rushed to different hospitals.
