Case filed for beating 2 Iranians in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: A case was filed against three people on charge of beating and snatching money from two Iran citizens in the district.

Bagha Police Station SI Tariqul Islam filed the case on Tuesday accusing Yazul, Ariful and Swapan.

The victims were identified as Alifa Zaafi and his friend Ali Ahmadul.

According to the police, three Iranians including a woman by a car were going to Ishwardi  from Rajshahi on Monday. On their way, they bought a card reader (SIM device attached) from Yazul’s shop and gave a note of Tk one thousand. Yazul returned Tk 950 to them. Yazul became angry as the foreigners asked him to change a note and locked into an altercation with them.

At one stage of altercation, Yazul, Ariful and Swapan started beating the two Iranians and snatched away their money bags.

On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested Yazul and Ariful while Swapan went into hiding.

Bagha Thana OC Ali Mahmud said, the snatched money bags were recovered.

Police are trying to arrest fugitive Swapan.
