Two Chinese nationals on two-day remand
Two China nationals were placed on a two-day remand by a Dhaka court on Thursday for possessing 5.5 kilogram gold at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chudhury passed the order as the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case; also Inspector (operation) of Air Port Police Md Mokaruzzaman produced the two Chinese before the court with a ten days remand prayer for interrogation.
The two Chinese who will face police custody are Chen Jifa, 29, and Ding Shousheng, 35.
A team of custom Preventive of Dhaka seized 48 gold bars weighing 5.5 kg and detained two China nationals at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport on Wednesday.
The customs house had drive at the air port following secret information that the two China citizens would bring a gold consignment to Bangladesh.
Based on the information, the customs team started monitoring them two china nationals -- soon after they came out of the flight of Air Arabian, which landed at the airport around 9:00am from Sharjah.
