Farmers taking care of tender mango buds at Tanore
RAJSHAHI, Feb 11: Farmers are now busy taking care of tender mango buds in Tanore Upazila of the district.
Every mango tree is now full of buds. The yellow coloured buds are spreading their beauty. Leaves of some trees are not visible for these buds.
Upazila Agriculture Office sources said, the production of mango will be better this year than the last year's. There are mango gardens on 306 hectares of land in the upazila. Last year, 8,500 metric tonnes of mango were produced in the upazila.

Farmers said if the temperature increases suddenly, the growth of buds will be affected. For this, the yield of mango may be affected.
Farmer Emdadul Haque Pramanik of Mundumala Municipality in the upazila said huge buds have been found in the trees this year. Prior to the arrival of bud, many farmers in the region are taking care of mango tree.
The farmers also said this upazila is drought-prone area. Being an upper level area than other upazilas, the level of water is low here. As a result, the soil here is very dry.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Shafiqul Islam said, this year buds have been found more than other years. If the weather is favourable the farmers will get better yield.
He also said farmers are being advised on proper care of mango bud and tree. Anthracnose disease can attack at any time. For this, every farmer has been asked to use medicine.
