SI, ASI withdrawn for ‘violating’ woman

MANIKGANJ, Feb 11: Two police officials have been withdrawn on Monday on charge of raping a woman after keeping her confined to Saturia Dak Bungalow in the district.
The two cops are Sub-Inspector (SI) Sekandar Hossain and ASI Mazharul Islam of Saturia Police Station.
The victim lodged a written complaint to Superintendent of Manikganj Police Rifat Rahman Shamim on Sunday.
The SP said the two policemen were closed to the district police lines on Saturday.
As per the complaint, Sekandar took the woman to the Dak Bungalow when she came to the upazila headquarters along with another woman on Thursday afternoon.
He kept her confined to a room and forced her to take yaba pills.
Later, Sekandar and Mazharul raped her in turns and released her on Friday afternoon, threatening her to kill on crossfire if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The victim said Sekandar was an acquaintance to her and she gave her Tk 1.5 lakh three years ago to buy land. He went to the upazila headquarters to bring back the money.
The victim filed a written complaint on Sunday and Assistant Police Super Hafizur Rahman has been assigned to investigate the allegation.
