Kalpana was not surprised with her recall
MUMBAI, FEB 11: R. Kalpana, who has been recalled three years after she last played her ODI (against Sri Lankan women's team at Ranchi on February 16, 2016) was not surprised with her inclusion in the women's team for the ODIs against England commencing in Mumbai on February 22.
Speaking exclusively over telephone from Hyderabad, she said, "This year I did very well in challengers trophy. I took great catches and I got confidence and after that I played U-23 T20 Matches. I played very well there too and I got confidence in batting and keeping. I played very positive cricket this year and so I was waiting for the call from BCCI and finally I got that".
"It's a nice feeling to be selected. I'm so happy I got chance to play again. So now my dream came true again. I will try my best to take active part in this series. I can't wait for first match".
"My family members (father : Ravi Venkateswarlu, mother : Bala Koteswari, brother : Ravi, Sister Kavya) are so happy. They have supported me a lot in this journey".
"The good news of my inclusion came from one of my close friends, who called me and she told me that I have been selected for the Indian team. I'm so happy with this moment .. and I have to prove myself this time. Hard work never fails It's proved and I believe in myself".
The 22-year-old wicket keeper-bats woman has played seven ODIs for India.
