Poor people get blankets in five districts

The poor and marginal people got blankets in districts including Manikganj, Barishal, Thakurgaon, Noakhali and Munshiganj, in two days.
MANIKGANJ: Umbrella, walking sticks, wheel chair, commode chair, sanitary materials and blankets were distributed among 400 elderly persons in Ghior Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The materials and allowances were distributed under the development project of Society for Development Initiative. Besides, the organisation provided them free treatment and medicine.
SDI Founder and Executive Director Shamsul Haque presided over the programme while Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Ferdous was present as chief guest.
Among others, Ghior Upazila Nirbahi Officer Moushumi Sarker Rakhi, Assistant Director of the organisation Kamruzzaman, Assistant Director Shohelia Naznin Haque, Regional Officer Mohammad Milon Miah, Branch Manager Nazrul Islam, Development Project Coordinator Mohammad Shahidul Haque, and Elderly Project Affairs Official Nargis Akhter were also present.
BARISHAL: Avijatrik Welfare Foundation, a non-profitable humanitarian organisation, distributed blankets among 100 poor people of ward no 9 in the city on Friday noon.
Midlife Insurance Unit Manager M Shahidul Islam, Avijatrik Foundation directors Akhi Akhter, Faridul Alam and Saiful Islam Sajib Munsi were present during the distribution.
THAKURAGAON: District Administration distributed blankets among 200 poor people in different places of Sadar Upazila in the district on Friday.
DC Dr Kamruzzaman Selim distributed the blankets going from door to door on Friday night.
The DC urged the affluent persons in the society to come forward and help the poor people.
Severe cold wave is sweeping over Thakurgaon in the last couple of days. So the administration is distributing the warm clothes here.
NOAKHALI: Agrajatra Khelaghar Ashar, a social organisation, distributed winter clothes among poor at Choumohany Madan Mohan High School on Saturday evening.
Khelaghar Noakhali District Committee President Makhan Lal Das inaugurated the programme with organisation's Choumohany Branch President M Obaidul Haque Jewel in the chair.
Zila Parishad Member Akhter Hossain attended the programme as chief guest while Choumuhany Madan Mohan High School Head Teacher Mahbubur Rashid Tareq, and Khelaghar Zila Committee General Secretary Dipak Aich were present as special guests.
MUNSHIGANJ: Winter clothes were distributed among the people of gipsy community at the Gipsy Palli area of Mirkadim in Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday.
Bhubangara Juba Kallyan Kendra arranged the distribution programme.
Mirkadin Pourashabha Mayor Shahidul Islam distributed the winter clothes as chief guest.
Founder of the organization Farzan Sumon presided over the programme.
Among others, Naboday Shahittya Sangskriti  Parishad President Moniruzzaman Sharif, Dr. Nazmul Hasan Ronty, were also present.
