Minor girl dies from wrong treatment

CUMILLA, Jan 12: A nine-month-old girl died in wrong treatment in Chowddagram Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
She was identified as Khushi, daughter of Jahangir Alam of Noapara Village in the upazila.
Family sources said the victim was suffering from cold problems. On Thursday afternoon, family members took her to the camber of a homeopath Dr Belal Hossain at Chowddagram Bazaar.
The doctor pushed siphtheron-500mg injection on the baby's body on Thursday afternoon. But her condition worsened. The doctor pushed another injection on the child's body. Soon after pushing injection, the baby was unconscious within five minutes, sources added.
Later, the family members immediately rushed her to Chowddagram Upazila Health Complex where she was declared dead.
Soon after the incident, Dr Belal Hossain escaped from his chamber, the deceased's family members said.
Officer-in-Charge of Chowddagram Police Station Nasir Uddin said legal action will be taken against the doctor if the victim's family file complaint.
Chowddagram Upazila Health Officer Hasibur Rahman confirmed the    incident.
