Seven new faces among BNP candidates for 16 Ctg JS seats

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 8: The BNP and its alliance have announced the names of 14 candidates for the 16 JS seats of Chattogram for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Name of two candidates are yet to be finalized.
According to BNP sources, names of 11 candidates of BNP for Chattogram are; Nurul Amin for (Chattogram-1) Mirsarai, Col. (RTD) Ajimullah Bahar for (Chattogram-2), Fatikchari, Ishaq Chowdhury for (Chattogram -4) Sitakunda, Jasimuddin Sikder for (Chattogram -6), Raozan, Kutubuddin Bahar for (Chattogram -7), Rangunia, Chattogram City BNP President Dr Shahadat Hossain for (Chattogram -9), Kotwali-Bakalia, BNP Presidium member Abdullah Al Noman for (Chattogram -10), Double mooring-Pahartali, BNP Presidium member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury for (Chattogram -11), Patenga-Halishahar, Enamul Haque (Chattogram -12), Patiya, Sarwar Jamal Nizam (Chattogram -13), Anowara, Chattogram South BNP President Zafrul Islam Chowdhury for (Chattogram -16), Banshkhali.
Besides, the names of its alliance candidates are; Col. (RTD) Oli Ahmed, Chief of LDP for Ctg-14 (Chandanaish), Maj Gen Ibrahim, Chief of Kallyan Party for Ctg-5 (Hathazari). Moulana Shamsul Islam of Jamaate Islami has been nominated by the BNP alliance for Ctg-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) seat.
BNP has not yet announced the names of two candidates for Ctg-3 (Sandwip) and Ctg-8 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali).
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has restored the nomination of former Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan for the coming 11th parliamentary election upon review. The BNP leader had submitted his nomination paper for the Chattogram-8 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali) seat but the returning officer rejected it.
Khan appealed to the Election Commission over the rejection and his case was heard on Saturday, the third day of appeal hearings.
The appeal authority led by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda approved Khan's nomination following the hearing.
The BNP is yet to announce its final candidate for the Chattogram-8 seat. The Awami League has left the seat to Moinuddin Khan Badal from its ally JSD.
After restoration of the application of Murshed Khan, BNP may announce his name for Ctg-8 seat.
In Ctg-3 (Sandwip) Mustafa Kamal Pasha and Nurul Mustafa Khokan have submitted their applications. BNP insiders said, Mustafa Kamal Pasha may be nominated for the seat. He was elected MP from this seat in 2008 elections.
Meanwhile, the BNP has nominated new faces for seven constituencies of Chattogram. They are Nurul Amin for (Chattogram-1) Mirsarai, Col.  (RTD) Ajimullah Bahar for (Chattogram-2), Fatikchari, Ishaq Chowdhury for (Chattogram -4) Sitakunda, Jasimuddin Sikder for (Chattogram -6), Raozan, Kutubuddin Bahar for (Chattogram -7), Rangunia, Chattogram City BNP President Dr Shahadat Hossain for (Chattogram -9), Kotwali-Bakalia and Enamul Haque for (Chattogram -12), Patiya.
Besides, BNP Presidium member Abdullah Al Noman for (Chattogram -10), was elected MP several times and a former Minister;  BNP Presidium member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury for (Chattogram -11), Patenga-Halishahar, also elected MP earlier and a former Minister; Sarwar Jamal Nizam for (Chattogram -13), Anowara, was elected MP from thjis seat for two times; Chattogram South BNP President Zafrul Islam Chowdhury for (Chattogram -16), Banshkhali was also elected MP for four times and a former Minister.
