Iqbal asks journos to stand by pro-liberation forces in polls

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 6: Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the journalist community to stand by pro-liberation forces in the upcoming national election to ensure non-communal democratic process.
He said this as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of publication of a book on late ABM
Mohiuddin Chowdhury, President of City Awami League and former Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation.
Idbal, also the editor of The Daily Observer said December is the month of independence and the book on Mohiuddin Chowdhury is about his memory of the month. Due to Mohiuddin Chowdhury's memorable political career Chattogram city never let him die after his death.
Organised by Chattogram Press Club the programme took place at Bangabandhu Hall on Thursday evening. Presided over by Kalim Sorower, President of Chattogram Press Club, presided over the programme.
Prof Dr Anupom Sen, Vice-Chancellor of Premier University was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion.  He said late Mohiuddin Chowdhury was known as 'Chattalabir' to people. The Press Club is doing a great job by publishing a book on his memory. AJM Nasir Uddin, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, said Mohiuddin Chowdhury on the issue of Chattogram and its people never compromised.
Mohibul Hasan Nowfel, Organizing Secretary of Central Awami League and Son of late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, said this is difficult for a son to discuss about his father.
My father was a media-friendly person and he always supported freedom of the press, Nowfel said, adding: "I promise if I get any chance in policy level, definitely I will do something for journalists."
The programme was also addressed by Hasina Mohiuddin, President of City Women Awami League and wife of late Mohiudding Chowdhury, Mohiuddin Bacchu, Convener of City Jubo league, Suklal Das, General Secretary of Chattogram Press Club, Nazimuddin Shamal, President of Chattogram Union for Journalist (CUJ), Moyazzen-ul-Haq, Resident Editor of Jonokantho, Ahesanul Haq Chowdhury Babul, Rawzan Upazila Chairman and Mintu Chowdhury, Publication Secretary of Pres Club.
