One killed in Sylhet clash

A man was killed in a clash between two groups over arranging a waj mahfil (religious sermon) in Sadar upazila of Sylhet district on Thursday noon.

Son of late Babul Khan, deceased Sakib Khan, 33, was a resident of Puran Kalaruka village in the upazila.

Sakib was seriously injured in a clash between Qawmi and Fultali followers in the area over arranging a waj mahfil, said police.

Later he was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead.

Harun-ur-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Jalabad Police Station, confirmed the matter.
