Classes, exams at Viqarunnisa suspended for indefinite period

In the wake of protests over the suicide of a student, authorities of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College have suspended all classes and examinations for an indefinite period.

Social Science teacher Mushtari Sultana, also a member of the school's governing body, informed journalists about the decision on Wednesday.

"The decision was taken to extend solidarity with the protesting students. We all shocked at the death of Aritree. In such situation, students cannot concentrate on their studies. Considering the circumstances, we take decision to postpone all classes from class one to 12th until further notice.

She said students would be informed through SMS once normalcy bring back.

"Guardians will receive updates of class and examination through SMS,” she added.

The teacher also unveiled the CCTV footage of the principal's room on that day Aritree and her parents met with the teachers.

Aritree, 15, a Class-IX student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, reportedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in the city on Monday after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using mobile phone during examination.
