A man, accused in six murder cases, was killed in a gun-battle with the members of police at Fultola in Ujirpur upazila of Barishal early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Robiul Alam, 35, a resident of Madaripur district town.
Superintendent of Barishal Police Saiful Islam said a team of police arrested Robiul from Madaripur district on Monday night in a case filed for killing Jalla union chairman Bishwajit Gosh Nantu.
According to his confessional statement, a team of law enforcers along with Rabiul conducted a drive in the area early hours to recover arms.
When the team reached the spot, his cohorts opened fire on the policemen, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Police, later, rescued bullet-hit Rabiul from the scene.
He was taken to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
A firearm and several sharp weapons were recovered from the spot.
Earlier on September 21, Jalla UP chairman Nantu was gunned down by miscreants at Karfa Bazar in the upazila.
