51.3pc youth want AL in office again

More than 51.3 per cent of the nearly 1,200 youth respondents of the country want the incumbent government in office again, according to a recent survey report conducted by CallReady, a research and communication strategy development organisation. The observation of the survey report was disclosed on Sunday while launching the report at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium on Saturday.
CallReady researcher Dr Abul Hasnat Milton read out the brief of the report. The study also shows that 68.3 per cent of the participants find Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's administration satisfactory, while 53.5 per cent believe that the upcoming polls will be fair. It says that nearly 80 per cent of the young voters despise politics.
Researcher Abul Hasnat said a total of 1,186 students from 33 universities were interviewed on random basis. The study was carried out to get a measure of what the younger generation thinks about 11th Parliamentary Elections.
According to the report, there are about 80 lakh to one crore young voters in Bangladesh. Among them 30.2 per cent don't want the current government to win the polls and 18.5 per cent are yet to make a decision about their franchise.
