Candidates must pay utility bills by Nov 12: EC

The Election Commission (EC) has asked the returning officers to cancel nomination papers of JS polls candidates if they failed to pay their respective utility bills, including of electricity, water and gas.
The EC gave the instruction on Saturday.
According to the instruction, the utility bills must be paid seven days before submitting the nomination paper. Since the last date of submission is November 19, candidates must pay the bills by November 12.
The instruction also said nomination paper will be
cancelled if a candidate is found as a loan defaulter except micro credit loan taken for agricultural purpose.
According to the schedule for the 11th parliamentary election, candidates can submit nomination papers until November 19. The last date of scrutiny of nomination papers is November 22 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 29. Election symbols will be allocated on November 30. The election will be held on December 23.
The EC has also asked the returning officers not to cancel nomination papers of candidates seeking to contest the electionif there is any silly mistake in the documents.
The Commission also asked the returning officers to help aspirants correct the small mistakes in the forms if found at the time of submission.
