EC announces schedule to hold lopsided poll: Fakhrul

BNP on Thursday night alleged that the Election Commission had announced the polls schedule to hold another unilateral election at government will.
In an instant reaction at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said people would not accept any election that went against their hope and aspiration.
"The election schedule was announced to hold a lopsided election which
has reflected the government will," he said.
Fakhrul came up with the remarks at a press conference after a meeting of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the election schedule in a televised address to the nation on Thursday evening.
The CEC announced that the 11th parliamentary elections would be held on December 23 (Sunday).
The last date for submitting nomination papers is November 19 while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is November 22 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is November 29.
Meanwhile, Juktofront Chief and former President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury in a statement demanded that the date of the election be shifted to December 30 instead of December 23.
