Bir Pratik Taramon Bibi was sent to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka from Mymensingh on Thursday for better treatment.

She was airlifted to the Dhaka CMH in the afternoon.

As her condition deteriorated, the freedom fighter was taken to the CMH in Mymensingh around 9am, UNB reports.

Considering her critical condition, doctors referred her to Dhaka CMH, said Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Subash Chandra Bose.

Dr Delwar Hossain, health officer of Rajibpur upazila health complex in Kurigram, said Taramon Bibi has been suffering from respiratory problems coupled with cough. Her condition deteriorated for the last few days.

As her condition was unchanged, she was taken to Mymensingh, said her son Abu Taher.

Taramon fought for the Mukti Bahini which was a guerrilla force that fought against the Pakistan military during the Liberation War in 1971.

She joined the war from her village home in Shongkor Madhobpur of Kurigram district. She was in Sector 11 under the leadership of sector commander Abu Taher.
