Woman kidnapped hours after daughter in city

Miscreants allegedly kidnapped the wife and daughter of a Jubo League leader from city’s Uttara on Thursday noon.

Abul Kalam Ripon, assistant secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan (North) unit Jubo League and president of Harirampur unit Jubo League, registered a general diary with Turag police in connection with the kidnapping of his wife and daughter.

According to the GD, Ripon's daughter Sumayia Akther Keya, 17, a class XI student of Dhaka Women's College on Uttara, was kidnapped from in front of her college at 12 noon.

Two hours after the abduction, the miscreants picked up her mother from Khalpar area of Uttara when she was returning home failing to find out her daughter, the GD said.

Ripon told the Observer that Kidnappers have demanded ransom from him using the cell phone of his wife.

Confirming the matter, Dulal Hossain, Inspector (Operation) of Turag Police Station, said law enforcers are conducting operations to rescue the victims.
