Revenue collection falls short of target in July, Aug

Revenue collection by the National Board of Revenue fell short of around Tk 7,000 crore of its target in July-August, the first two months of 2018-19 fiscal.
Collection stood at around Tk 28,000 crore against its target of Tk 35,000 crore during this period, which is a 1.53 percent higher than that period of the last fiscal, according to data from the NBR.
Of the total revenue, Tk 9,700 crore came from import and export duties while Tk 10,900 crore from Value Added Tax (VAT) at local level and Tk 7,600 crore from income tax and travel tax.
The NBR collected Tk 27 crore in the first two months of 2017-18 fiscal.
The government has fixed a target over Tk 2 lakh 96,000 crore for the current fiscal.
