Demand for banning BNP as 'terrorist party'
The government has been urged to ban BNP as a terrorist organization following the verdict on 21 August grenade attack.
The demand has been made at a round table meeting titled '21 August Grenade Attack Verdict: A Crisis of Legitimacy for BNP'.
Citizen for Responsible Democracy organized the meeting at a hotel in Gulshan of Dhaka on Thursday.
Presided over by D Ashikur Rahman Shanto, the meeting attendees were Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, human rights activist Khushi Kabir, Actress Rokeya Prachi, Journalist Shyamol Dutta, Ekattar TV managing director Mozammel Babu, Barrister Toukir Ahmed, Security Analyst Major General (Retired) Ali Shikder, and so on.
Speakers at the meeting said BNP does not believe Bangladesh's independence, liberation war and Bangabandhu. The party has repeatedly tried to exterminate pro-liberation forces.
It is time to ban BNP as its political and partisan involvements have been proved in 21 August grenade attack after the verdict was delivered on Wednesday, they added.
