EC seeks schedule for meeting President

An Election Commission delegation sought schedule of meeting with President Abdul Hamid to inform him about the preparations of the 11th parliamentary election. Earlier, the EC in a letter on Wednesday gave three alternative dates - October 28 or October 29 or October 30 - for the meeting with the President. Mokhlesur Rahman, Additional Secretary of the EC said, "Usually the commission meets the President before the national election."
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda will lead the team comprising the election commissioners and the Commission Secretary to the Bangabhaban. The meeting will discuss the election schedule and after the meeting, the schedule of the next general election will be declared. As per the provisions of the 15th amendment to the constitution, the 11th national election must be held by Jan 28. Earlier, then Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad met the President on November 17, 2013 at the Bangabhaban before 10th national election.
