Rajshahi BNP protest at verdict against leaders
Rajshahi BNP leader and activists have organized a protest rally on Wednesday noon, rejecting the verdict over 21 August grenade attack.
After the announcement of the verdict, the city BNP leaders and activists gathered in front of the Malopara party office and the district leaders and activists gathered at the Alokar intersection.
The party men could not bring out a procession due police barricade.
Witnesses said that after the announcement of the verdict, hundreds of BNP activists gathered in front of BNP office. Later, they organized the protest rally there.
City BNP president and former mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul demanded withdrawal of the verdict against BNP leaders, including Tarique Rahman.
The former mayor Bulbul said that the government has sentenced BNP leaders including Tarique as part of a conspiracy to destroy BNP. People will not accept the verdict.
BNP's Rajshahi division co-organizing secretary Shaheen Shawkat, general secretary of city BNP Shafiqul Haque Milon also spoke in the rally.
District BNP president Tofazzal Hossain Tapu said that the countrymen do not accept this verdict and will not.
This government has implicated BNP leaders including Tarique in 21 August grenade attack by conspiracy, he said.
