22 activists of BNP, Jamaat arrested

A total of 22 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested from different upazilas of Faridpur and Chattogram districts from Saturday night to Sunday morning.
In Faridpur, police arrested three including district Chhatra Dal general secretary while they were returning from a demonstration in Rajendra College premises around 11:30 am, reports UNB.
The detainees were identified as Tanjumul Hasan, general secretary of district Chhatra Dal, Walid Bin Mursalin, joint general secretary and Murad Hossain, general secretary of Chandpur union Sechasebak Dal, said Bipul Kumar Dey, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Meanwhile, a total of 19 activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested from different areas in the port city.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) in separate drives arrested them suspecting BNP-Jamaat activists.
After interrogation, if anyone found innocent will be released, said Moinuddin Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Model Police Station.
