Missing lyricist Jiban rescued

Police rescued missing lyricist Jiban Mahmud from Netrakona district on Saturday night, 22 hours after he went missing.

Abdullah Al Mamun, officer in-charge of Gauripur Police Station in Mymensingh, confirmed the matter.  

He said, Netrakona's Mohanganj Thana police rescued Jiban, 35, in an unconscious state from Chhechrakhali area under the police station around 8:30pm and handed him over to the family.   

Earlier on Friday night, Jiban went missing from Natun Bazar area adjacent to Gauripur Railway Station.  

Later, Abu Rayhan, younger brother of the victim, lodged a general diary with Gauripur Police Station in this connection, OC Abdullah added.

Quoting Jiban, OC Abdullah said unidentified 4/5 people made him unconscious pressing medicine mixed towel on his mouth and took him to a dark house. On the next day, he was dumped beside the road near Mohanganj Police Station.

The young lyricist received 'DCRU Showbiz Award' for his song 'Tomar name baji dhorechhi' in 2016. He also achieved Channel I best young lyricist award.
