Return of 5 missing people demanded

Family members of at least five missing people on Saturday demanded release of those detained after being picked up allegedly by law enforcers from Dhaka Airport areas on September 12. Five people were picked up by policemen during a drive, mother of one of the victims told journalists at a press briefing at the Crime Reporters' Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in the capital. She said there were no charges against her son or others.

According to a statement read out at the programme, it named Safiul Alam and his brother Monirul Alam, their friend Abul Hayat and another two, Safiullah and Mosaraf Hossain Mayaz, as missing since September 12. "A police team launched a drive in Dhaka Airport area on September 12 and detained three people said Ramiza Begum, mother of Safiul and Monirul.

Law enforcers were supposed to produce them before court on September 13 but did not do so till Saturday, the family members alleged. The families also urged rights bodies as wells as the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to raise their voices over the incident. Safiullah and Mosharraf Hossain Mayaz, were pick up from Jatarabari area said Safiullah brother Nasirullah. Safiullah is the student of Dhaka College. Mosaraf Hossain Mayaz is the student of  Madrasa at Dogail at Mirhazaribagh.
