It is widely known that Rohingya community is one of the most persecuted people in the world at present time and their intolerable sufferings happened for the torture of Burmese military. Actually they have been suffering from the unfair discrimination by the military-backed authoritarian government of Myanmar for long. They were inhumanely tortured by the brute Burmese army for decades and at last, evicted from their beloved motherland. Surprisingly, our neighbouring country never thought that what it lost by its evil deeds. Sorry to say, the truth is that it lost their glory, their self esteem, their pride as a nation. Once upon a time, it was known as the 'Land of Pagoda', but now it actually turns into a 'Land of War Criminals'.

The mass exodus of Rohingya people continued for years due to this dire situation created by the Burmese military, unfortunately, nationalist people of Myanmar supported this despicable thing. Large number of hapless people came to our country only to save their life. They narrated the harrowing tale of watching bullet riddled bodies of Rohingya men and women here and there. This beastly Burmese army was well prepared to strike the mortal blow on this unarmed community this time and it did a heinous massacre.

Even the neighbours of other communities did not come to save these people. As a result, Rohingyas had to leave the Rakhine state, possibly forever. Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina deserves accolades for the decision of giving them asylum in Bangladesh, which is already populous enough. On the other hand, the world community considers our neighbouring country a rogue state for its repression on the ethnic minorities especially on the Rohingyas. It has been despised by every civilized country all over the world, except some superpowers.

So, why Myanmar, which is blessed with natural resources unlike many other Asian countries, utterly failed to save its minorities? If we analyze the faults of Myanmar, as a state, we will see that people of different ethnic minorities, especially the women, have been regularly being harassed by the Burmese soldiers. But, as they live in the remote areas, especially underdeveloped region, their voice generally does not reflect in the mainstream Burmese media. That creates a sense of alienation in the mind of the repressed people. One can say that, it is not an exceptional thing, in every country, ethnic minorities suffer due to this type of alienation, but Myanmar crossed all limits.

Myanmar military and the general people think that minorities should be eliminated. Their existence does not create any difference. But, in reality, they create difference. A major qualitative difference indeed If they remain well, live in peace, it sends a great message to the outer world and creates a beautiful image of that particular country. Moreover, tourism is a great source of income for Myanmar.

Though stern steps have not taken against Myanmar yet due to the support of its big brother like China and Russia in international arena, everyone hates this authoritarian country for its repressive attitude towards its own ethnic minorities.  Sadly, when machine guns become active, human keeps its mouth shut. The Myanmar military and Rakhine people do not understand their loss right now. Tremendous hatred towards the Rohingya community is ruling their mind. This hatred even dominates their noble laureate who supports this ethnic cleansing inhumanely done against the Rohingyas. But, surely, one day they will realise their fault, when it will be too late to salvage their pride as a civilized nation. Therefore, it is very necessary to take care of the ethnic minorities of a country. It has been said that by seeing the conditions of the minorities, it can be understood that the actual situation of the county.

Bangladesh has been doing excellent works to rehabilitate the Rohingya community. This decision got much appreciation because most of the countries of the world, even the developed ones are behaving in a ruthless way to the refugees. The plea of the asylum seekers has been out rightly rejected by the influential countries of Europe and America. At this point of time, Bangladesh has given shelter to the Rohingyas refugees, who are almost ten lakhs in number or more than that. Moreover, our country is a developing one, not a rich country; Bangladesh considered the pain of these oppressed asylum seekers.

Now the point is that, we have our own ethnic minorities in the hilly areas of Chittagong. Our government is taking special care of them. Similarly, Myanmar should come forward and take proper steps to rehabilitate its displaced minority people, if this country wants to clean its image once again, which it has lost already due to the atrocities of the Burmese army.

And, the mainstream Myanmar media should go to the ethnic people of Rakhine, Kachin, Shan state etc to listen their well and woes. Because, migration of ethnic people from their homeland due to the grave injustice done to them or longstanding alienation is becoming a great shame for Myanmar, especially as a nation, which was created against the aggressors for the equal rights of all people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
