Lightning kills cattle trader in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, Sept 12: A cattle trader was killed in a lightning strike at Amraid Bazaar cattle haat in Kapasia Upazila on Tuesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Momtaz Uddin, 55, son of Akmat Ali of Izzatpur Village under Rajabari Union of Sreepur Upazila in the district.
At least five people were also injured in this connection.
General Secretary of Amraid Bazaar Merchants' Association Sharafat Molla said due to the lightning strike, the trader was killed on the spot. The injured were rushed to Upazila Health Complex.  
Doctor of Emergency Department at the Health Complex Lily Akhter said two of the injured were admitted to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital while three were released after giving first aid.
Sub-Inspector of Kapasia Police Station Kofil Uddin confirmed the incident and said the body was handed over to the family.
