Cox's Bazar road crash kills 3

Three people were killed and four others injured when a covered van rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

Police said a covered van smashed an auto-rickshaw, locally known as tomtom, at about 10:30am in Harbang area near Inani Resort, killing two on the spot and one on way to hospital.

Two of the dead were identified as Taj Uddin,32,  of Harbang Muslim para, and M Yunus, 37, of Rajakhali in Pekua.

Chiringa Highway Police Outpost SI Noor-e-Alam confirmed the deaths.

Four injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.

Chakaria police OC Bakhtiar Uddin said the number of death could rise as the condition of the injured is critical.

Covered van driver and his helper managed to flee the scene.
