47,744 poor families in Laxmipur to get rice at Tk 10 per kg
LAXMIPUR, Sept 11: Under the government's food friendly programme, a total of 47,744 card-holding poor families in the district will get rice at Taka 10 per kg.
A total of 1,433 metric tons of rice will be distributed under the programme this year.
In this connection, District Food Department has allocated the rice among 111-listed dealers for sale at scheduled points.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Shahjahan Ali inaugurated the programme on Mandari Union Parishad (UP) premises at 10am on Tuesday.
At that time, Vice-President of district Awami League and local UP Chairman Mizanur Rahim, District Controller of Food Shahed Uddin Ahmad, President of Laxmipur Press Club Kamal Uddin Hawlader, Food Inspector Tania Sultana, UP Secretary Monowar Hossen and UP Member Ismail Hossen were also present.
UNO Mohammad Shahjahan Ali said the government is trying to improve the life condition of people. In this connection, the government has started many programmes.
District Controller of Food Shahed Uddin Ahmad said of the beneficiaries, 9,549 will the rice in Sadar Upazila, 5,126 in Raipur, 7,075 in Ramganj, 19,583 in Ramgati, and 6,411 in Kamalnagar upazilas.
The rice will be distributed in March, April, September, October and November of each year, he also said.
