![]() 2 Bachchu murder suspects killed in 'crossfire’ Two suspected militants and killer of writer-publisher Shahjahan Bachchu were killed in a reported gunfight in Shreenagar upazila of Munshiganj early Friday. The deceased were identified as Kaka alias Shamim and Ekhlas, hailed from Jamalpur district. They both were the members of banned militant outfit JMB and masterminds of the killing of Bachchu, a progressive writer-publisher and blogger, said Jayedul Alam, superintendent of Munshiganj police. "Police at a check post on the KC Road in Satgaon area signaled a motorcycle to halt at about 1:30am. But, the riders opened fire on the law enforcers," the SP said. “At that point, police also fired back that triggered a gunfight, leaving them dead on the spot” the official said. Police, however, recovered a pistol, a magazine, three bullets, 11 cocktails, two knives and a motorcycle from the spot. Shahjahan Bachchu, also former general secretary of CPB, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Paschim Kakaldi village in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on June 11 this year. LY |
