Drug trader killed in Munsiganj gunfight

A drug trader was killed and two members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) were injured in a gunfight at Kumarbhog area in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj on Friday.

Dead Makbul Hossain, 36, son of Abdul Hakim Munshi, was a resident of Medenimondal in the upazila.

With this, the number of deaths stood at 215 across the country since May 12.

ASP Mahitul Islam said acting tipped off a team of Rab-11 conducted a drive in the area around 4.30 am.

Sensing presence of Rab, the criminals opened fire on them, prompting the Rab members to fire back. After a brief gunfight, the Rab members found the body of Makbul and recovered one pistol, two bullets, one magazine, 500 pieces of Yaba pills and Tk 4,675 from the spot.

Makbul was wanted in 12 cases.
