New Executive Committee of SALF

Mr. Justice A.H.M. Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik described the current condition of Bangladesh in terms of protecting human rights attending a ceremony as the chief guest. He firmly opined that the two criminal bus drivers who were involved in the accidents should be severely punished. The result of unsafe and unlawful competitions between both of the buses was the death of the innocent college students and this should be treated as murders. The Government should take stricter actions against the bus drivers.
The ceremony was organized for the newly elected Executive Committee of South Asian Lawyers' Forum and to award the Youth Delegates of the Asian Dialogue on Youth Civic Engagement and Human Rights on 4th August 2018 at the Daily Star Center.
The law students of London College of Legal Studies (LCLS) north, were honoured with awards for successfully participating in a day-long dialogue titled Asian Dialogue on Youth Civic Engagement and Human Rights which was held on July 18, 2018, at Asia Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.
This event was chaired by Sheikh Salahuddin Ahmed, Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court.
Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, the Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, was invited as a Chief Speaker.
Amongst others, Former General Secretary of Dhaka Bar Association, Advocate Abdur Rahman Howladar, University of Dhaka's Professor Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Karzon, and Human Rights Activist Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua were present the occasion as a special guest.
Professor Mizan stated the current persisting national issues and the steps to solve the problems. He emphasized that besides the skills and competence of the development of young lawyers, they need to play a pioneering role in the society.
On behalf of South Asian Lawyers' Forum Advocate Monirul Islam Akash, Advocate Jahidul Haque Babu, Advocate Md. Bashiruddin, Advocate Md Alamgir Khan, Head of Media & Advocacy Mr. Abdullah Al Noman, Head of Foreign Affairs Barrister Arunav Das Shuvro and Advocate Tajedul Islam Khokhn addressed the audience.
